Ta Prom

Ta Prom

When the French began renovating Angkor Wat in 1908 they decided to leave Ta Prom alone and let the jungle reclaim the temple. It is one of the most spectacular things I've ever seen. The jungle is slowly destroying what was once a city of 80,000 people.

Interestingly, the trees are now as much a part of Ta Prom as the sandstone. The roots that anchor the trees now hold the entire temple together. Without them, Ta Prom would crumble to the ground.
