That Just Doesn't Seem Safe...
In 1985 there was a huge landslide in the middle of the night. Miraculously, not a single person was hurt or killed.
However, the Fijian government stepped in and ordered the people on the island to relocate to the other side of Wayasewa. The resort is now dangerously located in the same spot as the old village.
In fact, the building shown here is the former schoolhouse. It now serves as a dormitory and it is where Fiona and I spent our first two nights on Wayasewa.
