Cicada Exoskeletons

These are the grub shells that the cicadas hatch out of. They pop out of the ground looking like this, and within a few days they bust out of their exoskeletons and start flying around.

Wherever I go lately, these things are crunching like crazy under my feet.

They leave these holes all over the place wherever they pop out of the ground.
